The AVP Tour today announced it has closed its doors due to financial hardship, cutting short the 2010 season. AVP ownership is not funding the tour and the AVP has been unsuccessful at finding new investors.

In front of a crowd of 18,626 at the Home Depot Center, Honduras wins decisively over the US with a 3-1 score. However, neither team fielded their full squad for the match. This is the first international friendly of 2010 for both FIFA World Cup-bound teams.

Misty May-Treanor announced, on her site mistymay.com, that she will be teaming up with Nicole Branagh for the upcoming 2010 beach volleyball season.
I am very excited about the upcoming year. For those that aren’t aware, Kerri is expecting her second child (Congratulations to her and Casey), so I will be teaming up with Nicole Branagh. Nicole is such a dynamic player, it is going to be fun.
The stage is set and it will be an interesting year on the AVP Tour.

England coach Fabio Capello, when speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, was quoted as saying “Of course, if he plays well and is fit I will include him in my squad. I don’t look at age, I pay attention to quality and David has a lot. He’s serious, he’s a great professional and he’s crazy about the World Cup.”
If all goes well for David Beckham and he stays healthy, it looks like he will be off to South Africa for the 2010 FIFA World Cup as part of the team for England.
