After a year long absence as a professional team, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh have reunited and haven’t missed a step. The pair defeated the Brazilian team of Vanilda Leão and Angela Vieira 21-13, 17-21, 15-8 (0:52) in their opening match at the AVP Crocs Tour World Challenge: USA vs. Brazil.
In their second match, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh cruised to another win by defeating Shaylyn Bede and Ana Paula Connelly 21-16, 21-14 (0:33).
As of this posting, United States leads Brazil 10-6 after two rounds of pool play in the challenge.

Photo courtesy of FIVB Three American teams (April Ross/Jen Kessy, Tyra Turner/Angie Akers and Nicole Branagh/Elaine Youngs) started the day at the SWATCH FIVB World Championships in Stavanger, but only one team advances to the semi-finals, April Ross and Jen Kessy.
April Ross and Jen Kessy advanced by defeating fellow Americans Tyra Turner and Angie Akers, 17-21, 21-12, 15-9, while Branagh and Youngs ended their tournament with a loss to Brazilians Shelda Bede and Ana Paula Connelly, 17-21, 22-20, 15-12.
Three more Brazilian Women’s teams advance in the 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Championships resulting in all 4 teams from Beach Volleyball powerhouse Brazil in the next round; Shelda Bede/Ana Paula Connelly, Talita Antunes/Maria Antonelli, Juliana Felisberta Silva/Larissa Franca and the Salgado sisters (Carolina and Maria Clara).
