After a year long absence as a professional team, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh have reunited and haven’t missed a step. The pair defeated the Brazilian team of Vanilda Leão and Angela Vieira 21-13, 17-21, 15-8 (0:52) in their opening match at the AVP Crocs Tour World Challenge: USA vs. Brazil.

In their second match, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh cruised to another win by defeating Shaylyn Bede and Ana Paula Connelly 21-16, 21-14 (0:33).

As of this posting, United States leads Brazil 10-6 after two rounds of pool play in the challenge.

Three women’s teams from Brazil stood atop the podium at The Hague Open Beach Volleyball 2009.

This is the 7th title of the season for Larissa Franca and Juliana Felisberta Silva, tying the SWATCH FIVB World Tour record for most gold medals by either a men’s or women’s team in a season.
