Andy Murray reaches a new career-high of No. 2 in the 2009 ATP Rankings, after a win at the Rogers Cup in Montreal.
No player other than Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal has been ranked No. 2 since Australian Lleyton Hewitt on July 18th, 2005.
Andy Murray is the highest ranked British player in ATP history.

Rafael Nadal returns to training after recovering from tendonitis in both of his knees. Nadal was unable to defend his title at The Championships, Wimbledon last month due to the injury. However, he will defend his Rogers Cup title in Montreal.

After four and a quarter hours, Roger Federer overcame Andy Roddick in a historic 30-game fifth set, the longest in Wimbledon history.
Federer also picked up the HSBC Champion of Champions honor along side Martina Navratilova.
